Helen She is an artist based in Italy whose paintings have been exhibited. She expresses her sensibility of freedom in art. She’s distinctive abstractions are often inspired by her world travels. For her, each city or country is a new color, a new interpretation, and a new journey.

This time, we interviewed her about the roots of her art and how she perceives it.

What made you start painting artworks?

When I was a child, the walls of our house were decorated with various carpets (expensive or not). And from a certain point, not only carpets but also paintings began to be displayed. Decorated spaces were the whole world for me at the time and inspired me. The beautiful interior is what got me into painting.

The walls decorated with various carpets is an unusual experience! What kind of inspiration did you get from?

Carpets come in a variety of patterns, centering on animals and plants. The million colors and bright shades left me with a lot of inspiration. True art is commonplace and we see it all around us. The power of contemporary art is the ability to use new techniques to create masterpieces out of the ordinary.

What’s the most important thing to you for painting?

I am an observer. I like to look around me and find things that other people don’t see. My paintings are born when I find things that are hidden and unnoticed by others. I am just a silent observer.

The most important thing for me personally when painting is a free and flexible idea.

If you don’t act with free ideas, you won’t come up with ideas for paintings. I am an emotional artist. Usual and unusual experiences, when I touch something new, I immediately start painting.

I see. You found what people don’t notice. What did you find in butterflies? Could you tell us why you started painting butterflies?

Did you know that some butterflies only live a few days? When I found out about it, there was great “Surprise” and “Sadness”. It was so ephemeral and felt beautiful. For me, the ephemeralness in the beauty of the moment, the originality was the inspiration!

Butterflies are about 100 million years old (human beings are only about 200,000 years old, so we are very young compared to butterflies). I can’t hide my surprise that we have been able to connect the seeds by repeating the birth and death of new generations one after another without a break.

The beauty of butterflies is ephemeral, so if you don’t capture that moment, it will soon disappear. Thus, the Butterfly Matrix collection was born.

The Butterfly Matrix was born to show you the beauty of nature and the life of the matrix. What nature creates looks simple at first glance, but it is actually very complex. Also, we tend to misunderstand that what nature creates will never change.

At some point, everything transforms into another form. So on the one hand it shows the butterfly in a natural way and on the other hand it shows as if it were a new dimension, the matrix. In doing so, I keep her essence, beauty intact. It doesn’t disappear anywhere, it just melts into the matrix. This is my beauty philosophy.

What do you expect from new technology like NFT?

I love progress. I love it when the world changes and becomes more interesting.
New technologies are always something unknown and at the same time very tempting.

NFT is a prime example of how art keeps up with the times.
NFT is one of the new interesting projects.

NFT, rapidly gaining interest from the public, has spawned a new round for art lovers and also the interest of the young public. Painting has rejuvenated and it’s great. We are on the verge of an amazing transformation when art goes beyond the picture and becomes part of the global digital world.

HELEN SHE

Every day look around me and create my own picture of the world! All my arts are individual and not repeatable. I draw with oil in my own pixel style. I am an art blogger. I have 10,000 followers on my YouTube channel, where I share my creativity with the world and teach to draw! Using different tools for creating pictures! I prefer to use 3-4 colors in the picture. My arts are my world, my soul, my knowledge. I am proud that, together with my husband Boris Shestakov, I participated in the exhibition of photographs, was my personal inspiration, and also co-authored an excellent photo work that was presented in the Hermitage.
